Year 1/2
Year One 2020 / 2021
Teacher: Miss Harding
KS1 had a visit from Station 49 Fire Brigade who are based at Crownhill. They taught us all about fire safety and helped us replicate the Great Fire of London. They set fire to our model houses and it was amazing to see how quickly the fire spread. They let us have a go at using the fire hose and then showed us the fire engine. What an amazing experience! Santa's Grotto
Year 1 children have enjoyed playing in the grotto to help Santa and his Elves for Christmas. They have been hard at work, helping to decorate the Christmas tree, writing Christmas cards and wrapping presents. Some have worked so hard, they even got a little sleepy as you can see!
Here are some of the photos the children took of their hard work. Enjoy!

Year 1 P.E.
During this term Year 1 have had the opportunity to take part in P.E. with some Sixth Form Sports Leaders from St Boniface and Specialist P.E. teacher Mr Turner from Notre Dame.
During these P.E. sessions the children have been working on a range of skills and improving their existing sports skills. So far we have looked at: running techniques, agility, balance, throwing and catching skills along with team games.

Road Safety Week
Ryan Evans visits and talks: Be Safe; Be Seen!
As part of increasing the children's awareness of Road Safety Week, the children were visited by Ryan Evans (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/) who explored the theme of 'Be Safe; Be Seen.'
As part of this, Ryan planned and delivered a workshop around the three-key rules of being safe whilst travelling in the dark. These were:
- Bright colours
- Reflective
- Lights
The children had great fun discussing this, as well as dressing up to test what type of clothing and equipment would help them be seen.
Road Safety Week
Remember, remember the 5th November!
The children learnt all about the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot. They then enjoyed decorating a firework scene using bright coloured felt tip pens and lots of glitter!
