Mathematics provides a means for organising, communicating and manipulating
information. This means that we expect children not only to learn the basic skills of
number and measure, but also to deal with aspects of shape and geometry, and the
handling of data and statistics. We encourage children to develop a confident and
positive attitude to the learning and understanding of mathematics. Children are
encouraged to question, reason out and investigate different mathematical ideas.
We have a calculation policy for Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division to
ensure that all teachers and pupils are able to recognise their next steps for learning
Pupils progress in Mathematics is monitored at least once every term by members of the
school leadership team through scrutiny of planning, work, pupil progress meetings and learning walks as part of our on going school improvement plan.
