MISSION STATEMENT

Through Jesus we love, we learn and we grow together.

Our School Prayer

St Peter’s RC Primary is a school where the Christian ethos underpins all that we do. “The school has a strong and caring ethos where children are encouraged and enabled to become the best they can be”.  S48 (March 2015):

St Peter’s RC was rated as Good in the S48 section (March 2015) and demonstrated aspects of outstanding. We live and work by our Christian values and they underpin all relationships within the school and its community.  These encourage community spirit and provide children with the guidance to develop a moral compass based on the teachings of Jesus, within themselves and to act as fine, young citizens.  Our school Christian ethos shines through all that we do and it is integral to the culture at St Peters.

Pupil Chaplains 2022-23

Pupil Chaplains

The pupil chaplains support the Catholic life and mission of the school. They provide pastoral care for other children, assist with the prayer life of the school, give joyful witness of Christ and help to organise events enabling us to put our faith into action.

Community Kitchen

Thanks to a grant from Babcock, we held our first Community kitchen on the evening of Thursday 1st December and a second on February 10th.  We served hot meals, drinks and deserts as well as offering food to take away to people in our local and school community.

As part of the Intergenerational Project, we visited residents at our link care home, Underhill in Stoke Plymouth. A group of 7 children aged between 7 and 10 visited the residents and spent a fun afternoon chatting to and getting to know the residents.

Underhill residents visit St. Peter's for a cream tea.

Liturgy for Mary 2022

Advent Prayer Space

Our Pupil Chaplains prepared a beautiful prayer space for our Advent reflections.  The children enjoyed using the prayer space and the time to reflect at this important time of the liturgical year.

As part of Islam week, we welcomed a Muslim faith speaker to our school and visited The Plymouth Islamic Centre.

Intergenerational Carpet Curling

Some of our children visited the Salvation Army centre in Whitleigh to compete in a carpet curling competition.  The young children from St. Peter's and members of the curling team from Whitleigh Salvation Army centre demonstrated that young and old can have fun together, learn together and respect each other.

Helping in the Community

Our Pupil Chaplains visited the local Salvation Army Centre to help with their Christmas toy appeal. The children sorted toys and gifts into age appropraite categories ready to be gifted to children who are less fortunate at Christmas.

Helping in the community . The Pupil Chaplains delivered and stacked the food donations from St. Peter's families at Provide Devon foodbank.

Environmental Youth Service Plymouth Cathedral

Father Jon helped the children in Attenborough class with their understanding of symbols used in Baptism.

Caring for our community: The children in year 1/2 made some Christmas cards for the residents of Underhill residential home.
